Visit to Temple bar, Dublin

Temple Bar in Dublin, is known as the cultural centre of the city due to its popularity with artists, writers, musicians and small independent businesses.

In the mid to late 20th century, the area fell largely into ruin and ‘urban decay’. It drew the attention of commercial buyers wishing to build a new bus terminal, but protesters drummed up local support with the help of the An Taise (National Trust of Ireland) and Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) at the time Charles Haughey, who were able to raise substantial funding in order to renovate the area into what it is today.

Many of the buildings, shops and bars around Temple Bar are elaborately decorated with vivid colours and bold designs, which makes the area popular for tourists and creatives alike.
